"Bundle and save" might be the most repeated phrase in insurance advertising, and it's usually true. Multi-policy discounts are real, typically meaningful on both policies, and carriers genuinely want your whole household. But "usually" is doing quiet work in that sentence, and the exceptions are worth money.
Carriers don't price your home and your car with the same appetite. One is hungry for drivers like you but cautious about roofs your age; another is the reverse. Real cases where the split beats the bundle:
Quote it both ways. That's not a sales line — it's arithmetic, and it's exactly what an independent agent is for. We run your home and auto together and separately across our carriers and show you the totals side by side. See what we quote on the home & auto page.
One more honest note: the answer changes over time. The bundle that won two years ago can lose after one carrier's rate increase. Shopping the combination at renewal — not just each policy alone — is where the recovered money hides.
Send your current declarations pages. We'll show you bundled and split totals in writing — and if what you have is the winner, we'll say so.
